The Pyrenees Orientales has a rich history in music where music festivals abound, particularily in Perpignan and Prades.

In the wider Languedoc area, there are Cathar castles, the Canal du Midi, Carcassone and much more to explore. Spain and the charming Costa Brava coast are also easily reached, as is Barcelona which is a 2 hour drive away (you can also get there by train from Perpignan).
