Vernet Les Bains is situated in the heart of the Pyrenees Orientales, set in a sheltered valley at the foot of Mount Canigou.
The village famously has it's own microclimate with on average 300 days of sunshine a year. Tranquil and restful, Vernet has long been known for it's hot water spring, there is a spa/therapy centre within the village.
In Vernet Les Bains
there is a quaint village square where daily activities take place, including
markets on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Around this square there is a
comprehensive range of shops, restaurants and cafes (where you can relax and
watch the world go by). In the French style, the village consists of a series of
winding streets, one of which winds it's way up to the castle and church.

There are many beautiful walks in and around Vernet Les Bains. In particular it is an ideal base from which to climb the summit of Mount Canigou, either on foot or by 4x4.
Other beautiful spots to explore from Vernet Les Bains are the abbey of Saint Martin du Canigou and the Cascade des Angles.

Within 5 minutes walk of our villa is a swimming pool complex, with both indoor and outdoor pools. Close to the swimming pools there is an outdoor tennis complex and bouledrome.
Also close by is an equestrian centre.

The town also boasts it's own casino, for those looking for a less energetic time. The casino has it's own beautiful gardens which are open to all visitors to Vernet Les Bains.
Vernet Les Bains has been a popular destination for holiday makers, the most famous being Rudyard Kipling who wrote that Mount Canigou was "a magician among mountains. Today the main bridge over the River Cady in Vernet Les Bains is named after him.

Vernet Les Bains also has it's own arboretum where more than 1500 trees have been planted.
Festivals abound in Vernet Les Bains, from the Fete de l'arbre, the Canigou mountain race and the Fete de la Saint Saturnin.
